Star Institute
Star Institute is committed to the professional and personal development of the school workforce and to making a significant contribution to a self-improving school system.
At Star, we want to play our part in developing the next generation of teachers, managers and leaders in our own schools and throughout the school system.
Star Institute leads the three DfE-designated Star Teaching School Hubs:
- North West Lancashire, led by Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School
- Pennine Lancashire, led by Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School and Sixth Form College
- Bolton, Bury and Rochdale, led by Eden Boys’ School, Bolton
The Teaching School Hubs are responsible for five core activities; delivering Initial Teacher Training, the Early Career Framework programme, the new suite of National Professional Qualifications, Appropriate Body services and other CPD. The Institute is currently approved to deliver the DfE National Professional Leadership Qualifications and is an accredited provider of Initial Teacher Training. Star Institute also plays an active role in leading and co-ordinating school-to-school support and promoting partnership working.
The Institute has a national focus, working in partnership to offer programmes nationally while leading the three Teaching School Hubs.
Star Institute is led by experienced school leaders who have exemplary records in driving successful school improvement and improving outcomes for their students. Our highly practical training and support programmes are available to all schools and academies, to other Multi-Academy Trusts and to Local Authorities.

Train to Teach
Star Academies is now recruiting to train the next generation of teachers through the National Institute of Teaching’s ITT programme.
As a founding partner of the National Institute of Teaching, we are excited about collaborating with three other leading school trusts: Harris Federation, Outwood Grange Academies Trust and Oasis Community Learning. Together, we have selected what is best from our trusts’ initial teacher development and built an immersive programme to equip our cohort of future teachers to inspire and develop children across the country.
