Platinum Jubilee

Star Celebrates Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

In 2022, the Commonwealth will celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. For 70 years since her accession to the throne on 6 February 1952, Her Majesty has served her people with great dignity.

In honour of our beloved Queen, we are proud to launch a rich programme of celebration and thanks.

Our Star Jubilee Stories and 70,000 Hours of Impact are just a few of the initiatives we’re delivering to commemorate Her Majesty’s historic reign.

Star Jubilee Stories

Pupils at Star schools have sent Her Majesty The Queen an anthology of their short stories to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and celebrate her 70 years of selfless service to the UK and the commonwealth.

The Star Jubilee Stories anthology features creative writing from the winners of the trust’s prestigious short story competition for all pupils in Star’s primary and secondary schools.

Star 70,000 Hours of Impact

On her 21st birthday, on a radio broadcast from Cape Town to the Commonwealth, The Queen dedicated her life to the service of the Commonwealth.

“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it long or short, shall be devoted to your service.” Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen sees public and voluntary service as one of the most important elements of her work.

As we celebrate 70 years of reign, we want to say thank you to Her Majesty for her service to our nation. That’s why, our Star family has made the ambitious pledge to undertake 70,000 hours of voluntary service in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service.

Our 70,000 Hours of Impact campaign embodies our ambition to develop well-rounded, ethical and accomplished leaders of tomorrow who are inspiring role models and active citizens. From caring for the elderly to the preservation of wildlife and the environment, all Star pupils will undertake a range of voluntary activities that support the local, national and global community.
