TIGHS rated as ‘outstanding’ in latest Ofsted report
Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School and Sixth Form College (TIGHS) is celebrating after the Blackburn school was once again rated as ‘outstanding’ in a recent Ofsted inspection.
An Ofsted inspection team visited the school on 11 and 12 October 2022. The report, published this week, is fulsome in its praise for pupils, staff and the whole-school community.
Ofsted inspectors confirmed TIGHS continues to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas in the recent visit, with no areas for improvement.
The report highlights many of the positive aspects of the school, noting that ‘senior leaders, trustees and governors have created a culture of scholastic excellence. They provide all pupils with a fantastic all-round education.’
School leaders, according to the report, have ‘unwaveringly high expectations for excellence, which permeate all aspects of school life.’ The report also praises staff and ‘teachers right across the school’ who it says ‘are subject experts. They deliver subject curriculums exceptionally well.’
Pupils were also commended for their commitment to learning and development and the opportunities created for them by leaders. The report highlights that ‘pupils work tirelessly and achieve excellent academic outcomes’, adding that ‘pupils’ behaviour is exemplary at all times. They embrace learning and embody the finest academic attitudes to study when in class.’
The report went on to say: ‘Pupils’ personal development is worthy of celebration. Their wider character development is exemplary.’

“Everyone at the school is delighted that the Ofsted inspection recognises the many things that make our school special.
“This Ofsted judgement – and the fantastic school that we have – would not be possible without the amazing support, commitment and loyalty of every one of our parents, devoted staff and governors, and wonderful pupils.
“Although the inspection report does not identify any areas for improvement, the school will continue to work hard for our young women and their families.”
