Welcoming three primary academies to the Star family
The Trust is delighted to announce that as of 1 April 2018 Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy, Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy, and High Crags Primary Leadership Academy have officially become part of the Star family.
Star was identified as the preferred new sponsor for these three primary academies in West Yorkshire in October 2017.
Mufti Hamid Patel CBE, Chief Executive of Star Academies, said:
“Working closely with these three primary schools over the last six months, we have developed strong relationships with governors, principals and senior leaders. We now look forward to continuing to guide each school along its improvement journey, and to building a dynamic and forward-looking partnership of schools that support one another towards academic excellence and meet the needs of their local communities.
“All three schools share our vision and we will work together towards our ultimate objective of providing pupils with an education of the highest standards while building character and resilience and nurturing their leadership potential.”
Clare Daddy, Principal of Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy in Bradford, commented:
“I and my senior colleagues have been working closely with Star Academies since October and strong relationships have already begun to form that I am confident will bring about positive changes for our entire school community.”
Ann Winter, Co-Principal of Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy, said:
“Our senior leadership team has been working together with Star Academies since October, building strong relationships with Trust staff. We are grateful for their support and look forward to continuing to work with them for the benefit of Barkerend pupils.”
Lucinda Fewlass, Co-Principal of Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy, added:
“Barkerend is looking forward to continuing on our improvement journey together with Star Academies. What matters most to us is providing our children with the very best start in life through an education of the highest standard. At Barkerend we teach our pupils to aim high, care and be proud. Star shares this vision and we are confident that together we can achieve this.”
Jo Cornelius, Principal of High Crags Primary Leadership Academy, said:
“Following a short period of uncertainty, our close working with Star Academies has seen us forge strong links that will help my team of staff, governors and parents to continue to provide a high standard of education for High Crags pupils.”
The addition of Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy, Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy and High Crags Primary Leadership Academy to the Trust strengthens Star’s presence in West Yorkshire. We are already the academy sponsors of two Bradford secondary schools: Laisterdyke Leadership Academy and Tong Leadership Academy.
