Star Academies Spreads Goodwill This Festive Season
At Star Academies, we pride ourselves on making a positive difference to society. Our schools are a key part of the community and we are committed to playing an active role in the community and helping others.
As the festive season approaches, we have launched our annual Festive Winter Gift Programme to support the most vulnerable people in our communities. Throughout the campaign, we will support those in our communities – young and old – who are unwell, elderly, homeless or living in care, and those experiencing loneliness or food poverty.
We would like every person in our communities to receive some festive cheer – be it a gift, a visit or a festive meal – so across the country our 24 schools will all be taking part in this year’s Festive Winter Gift initiative. As well as benefitting vulnerable people this winter, our pupils will also benefit from their involvement by experiencing first-hand the positive impact of helping those less fortunate.
Mufti Hamid Patel CBE, Chief Executive of Star Academies, said:
“At Star Academies, we are committed to nurturing a commitment to helping those who are the most vulnerable and needy in our communities.
“This is a core mission to which all of our staff, parents and young people subscribe throughout the year. However, it is particularly important during this time of year when people can feel particularly lonely and helpless.
“So, once again this year, it is really heart-warming that our pupils will be delivering gifts to patients at their local hospital, passing on some cheer to the elderly in a care home near to their school and supporting the homeless in their community. We are extremely proud of them all and the huge difference they are making.”
Our Festive Winter Gift Programme is one way in which our schools deliver their leadership programmes, as pupils get involved in planning and participating in a range of charitable and volunteering opportunities. Some of our schools will be running enterprise activities to raise funds to purchase gifts to be distributed within their local communities; others will be spending time getting to know individuals living close to their schools who have no one with whom to spend the festive season.
The Programme links to each of our STAR values – Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect – and offers our pupils a valuable learning opportunity.
