Star Academies’ Bradford primary schools make the grade in national league tables
Two primary schools run by Star Academies in Bradford are celebrating after making the grade in the national Primary School Performance Tables for 2018.
The tables are based upon Key Stage 2 national curriculum assessment results (often referred to as SATs) and progress scores for pupils in subjects such as reading and maths.
Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy, on Dick Lane, and Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy, on Hendford Drive, were placed in the top 1% of schools nationally for maths and the top 3% for reading.
Clare Daddy, Principal of Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy, said:
“I am absolutely delighted to celebrate such outstanding results. This is a real testament to the hard work that children and staff have put in. Our children are capable of being the very best and this shows their true potential. These great results are some of the best in the country, which makes me immensely proud.
“The progress that children have made places us in the top 1% of the country’s best performing schools for maths, in the top 2% for reading and the top 10% for writing. This means that our children are getting a fantastic education, which stands them in good stead for their future education and their careers too.”
Ann Winter, Principal of Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy, said:
“We are delighted with this year’s results and the fantastic progress our pupils are making. All staff at Barkerend are extremely proud that our 2018 Year 6 progress scores place us in the top 1% of primary schools in the country for maths and the top 3% for reading.
“We would like to acknowledge the incredible team effort that has gone into achieving not only this year’s fabulous results, but also the outstanding progress pupils have made since joining our school. It is through the dedication of Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy’s staff and support of our parents that we are now ranked the ninth best primary school in Bradford.”
Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy and Barkerend Primary Leadership Academy are both primary academies with pre-schools. Both schools joined Star Academies, one of the UK’s leading multi-academy trusts, in April 2018.
