Small Heath officially joins the Star family

The Trust is delighted to announce that as of 1 January 2018 Small Heath Leadership Academy has officially become a part of the Star family.

We have been working with governors, parents and senior leaders at the school for several months leading up to its conversion to an academy. Action plans have been drawn up to drive forward continuous improvements at this Birmingham secondary school.

Mufti Hamid Patel CBE, Chief Executive of Star Academies, said:

“Since the Trust was identified as the preferred academy sponsor for Small Heath, we have worked closely with governors and senior leaders at the school, as well as the local authority, to ensure the academy conversion process went smoothly.

“Key appointments we have made are already bringing a wealth of expertise to Small Heath, and together we will continue along the school’s journey of improvement.

“We have developed strong working relationships and look forward to building on these further and having a positive impact in the local community. It is our goal to foster a dynamic partnership of forward-looking schools in the West Midlands that support one another towards academic excellence while striving to develop pupils’ character and resilience and nurture their leadership potential.”

Principal of Small Heath Leadership Academy Enas Al-Ani said:

“I feel privileged to be the Principal of Small Heath Leadership Academy. It’s my goal, through working in partnership with all of our stakeholders and with the support of parents, to make our Academy the beacon for the local community. The Trust’s support is paramount and their track record of helping schools achieve some of the best results in the country is a real inspiration.”
