National ‘Educational Outcomes’ awards recognise high-performance of Star schools

Two Star secondary schools have received awards from the Schools, Students & Teachers Network (SSAT) in recognition of their exceptional performance in 2016.

Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School (TIGHS) and Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School (TIBHS) each received an Educational Outcomes Award at a regional SSAT celebration this week.

The Educational Outcomes event, held in Leeds, aimed to highlight the work of high achieving, improving and innovative schools and teachers.

Educational Outcomes data from the SSAT has shown that TIGHS is in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally for high average grades. Both TIGHS and TIBHS are in the top 10% of all schools nationally for progress made by pupils between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4.

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said:

“It’s my great pleasure to commend Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School and Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School on their excellent 2016 performance.

“We know how hard teachers work to ensure the success of every child. SSAT’s Educational Outcomes Awards recognise the professionalism, commitment and hard work of the leaders, teachers and students at the two schools. A big thank you and well done to the pupils, staff and governors.”

Both TIGHS and TIBHS, each rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, celebrated phenomenal GCSE results in the summer of 2016. And earlier this year, when data from over 6,000 UK secondary schools against the Government’s new Progress 8 measure was released, both schools were in the top 1% –  TIGHS was ranked first and TIBHS was ranked third for progress and overall performance during 2015/16. The data showed that pupils at TIGHS and TIBHS achieve, on average, more than a grade higher than their peers of a similar ability nationally.

Lukman Ahmed, Associate Principal of Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School, said:

“We’re very proud of our excellent results and the progress our pupils make. To receive an Educational Outcomes Award from the SSAT for our achievements is a wonderful honour.”

Mubaaruck Ibrahim, Principal of Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School, said:

“For Tauheedul Boys’ to be recognised among the best schools nationally is a tremendous accolade. This award is a recognition of the tireless work of our staff, our pupils, school governors and our parents and carers.”

Mufti Hamid Patel CBE, Chief Executive of Star Academies, added:

“We are filled with pride to have the performance of TIGHS and TIBHS highlighted at a regional education event. These Educational Outcomes Awards are testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and governors and, of course, our pupils.”
